Pure Kora Silk Kadhwa Buti Sona Rupa Zari Handloom Banarasi Saree | Lavender with Navy Meenakari Border | KATAN BANARAS
Cash on Delivery is available in India only.
Most Banarasi sarees use one zari. This one uses two.
Sona Rupa gold and silver together — woven as Kadhwa butis across a soft lavender Kora Silk body. The butis alternate between gold and silver, so the saree catches light differently depending on how you move. It's a small detail in the weaving process. On the body, the effect is hard to miss.
The fabric itself is Pure Kora Silk — sheer, crisp, and much lighter than Katan. It has a natural translucency that heavier silks don't have, and it drapes with a clean fall without being stiff.
Fabric:
Pure Kora Silk. Sheer and breathable with an organza-like finish. Lightweight, with a natural glow that comes from the silk itself — not the zari.
Technique:
Handwoven in Banaras using the Kadhwa Buti technique. Every buti is woven directly into the silk on a handloom — individually, one at a time. No printing, no embroidery. The Sona Rupa zari used here is 100% pure tested, which is what gives the gold and silver their distinct colour without tarnishing.
Colour:
Soft Lavender / Mauve Purple body with alternating gold and silver zari Kadhwa butis scattered across the full length.
Border:
Deep Navy Blue Meenakari border with a dense gold zari ground and full-coverage floral creeper weaving in pink, white, green, and deep red. The border has a traditional toothed kanta edge where it meets the body — a classic Banarasi border finishing detail.
Pallu:
Heavy gold zari jaal pallu with the Navy Blue Meenakari floral border running across it. Rich and full — it drapes as the anchor of the whole saree.
Blouse Piece:
Unstitched Navy Blue blouse piece with gold zari — matches the border exactly.
Length:
6.5 meters (includes unstitched blouse piece)
Best For:
Weddings, receptions, festive occasions, and anyone who collects serious handloom. The lavender and navy combination is unusual for a Banarasi — it works well for both daytime and evening events.

Handcrafted in Banaras, India. KATAN BANARAS has been weaving here since 1956.
