Teal and purple is not a common combination in Banarasi weaving. When it works, it really works.

This Pure Kora Silk saree has a deep peacock teal body — the kind of colour that reads differently in daylight versus artificial light — with Sona Rupa Kadhwa butis scattered across it. Gold butis and silver butis, alternating. Woven in, not printed. The body alone has that characteristic Kora Silk glow that heavier silks simply can't replicate.

Then the border shifts to a deep purple. Dense Meenakari floral creeper weaving in pink, white, green, and deep red, all on a gold zari ground. The contrast between the teal body and the purple border is what makes this saree stand out from the moment you unfold it.

Fabric:
Pure Kora Silk. Sheer, lightweight, and breathable with an organza-like transparency. Holds a clean drape without stiffness. The teal colour has a natural depth on Kora Silk that looks different from every angle.

Technique:
Handwoven in Banaras using the Kadhwa Buti technique on a handloom. Every buti — gold and silver — is individually woven into the silk using 100% pure tested Sona Rupa zari. Each saree takes 3–4 weeks to complete.

Colour:
Deep Teal / Peacock Blue body with alternating gold and silver zari Kadhwa butis across the full length.

Border:
Deep Purple Meenakari border with a gold zari ground and full-coverage floral creeper weaving in pink, white, green, and deep red. Traditional toothed kanta edge where the border meets the body.

Pallu:
Heavy gold zari diagonal shikargah-style floral jaal pallu — dense weaving with horizontal bands of floral motifs running the full width. Rich and substantial when draped.

Blouse Piece:
Unstitched blouse piece with gold zari stripe detailing — coordinates with the border.

Length:
6.5 meters (includes unstitched blouse piece)

Best For:
Weddings, festive occasions, and evening events. The teal-purple contrast photographs exceptionally well and stands apart from the standard bridal red and maroon. A good choice for the wedding guest who wants to be remembered.

Origin:
Handcrafted in Banaras, India. KATAN BANARAS has been weaving here since 1956.
